Eyes Wider, the 3rd movement from Thomas Bergersen's hybrid symphony "Seven".
- Composed by Thomas Bergersen. Arranged for two pianos by Clint Su.
- “Seven” is a seven-movement hybrid symphony composed by Thomas Bergersen, with mix of traditional orchestra and choir with electronic elements. “Seven” follows the life of a human being from birth to death and digs deep into the full range of human emotions, from happiness, wonder, sadness, tragedy, love and beauty. The entire symphony is centered around the recurrence of the number 7 as it plays important roles in religion, mathematics, history and culture.
- “Eyes Wider”, the 3rd movement of the symphony, is probably the opposite and extension of the 2nd movement “Big Life”. If we imagine “Big Life” expressing the beauty and happiness in the world, then “Eyes Wider” feels like the expression of the complexity of the world, full of tempts, dangers, hardness and challenges.
- I arranged this piece in two pianos to catch the epic sound effects in this piece, and show them with unique sound of piano.
- This arrangement is very difficult to play; appropriate simplification recommended for performing as needed.
- Sheet music of each piano part also attached in the file.
