“Vampire” Sheet Music
You can omit playing green notes (the second voice).
"Vampire" is played with a mix of triplets (swing) and straight rhythm.
Daniel Nigro said it's written in double time (the beat is faster than the melody), that's why I notated it as 2/2. Accenting strong beats is the key. Take care to maintain a steady pulse and play along with the recording if you find that the memory eludes you. Practice "Vampire" slowly. The first verse is slower by 1 bpm than the rest of the song.
To keep listeners attention, the chorus was made to be the biggest part of a song. I colored it blue for your convenience: it is easier to learn a piece of music when you have a mental scheme of it. Play every part differently, as expressively as possible. If some notes are too difficult to play, omit them focusing on emotions instead of sightreading.
"Vampire" is a song with a homophonic arrengement: the instrumental part provides a harmony to support the vocal but lacks its own melody.
Vocal in the original track is marked by subtle bends and slides, with intense ornamentation. It is impossible to convey on piano with a fixed pitch of the keys. A predominant vocal style is legato, all slurred notes are vocal bends and to should be barely heard.
"Vampire" is transcribed in the original key, F Major, and uses a mix of basic and extended major and minor chords. Extended chords help create richer sounds than those available from basic major and minor chords. A chord change marks time and musical structure rather than creates a meaningful harmonic pull.
Notice how non-harmonic chords A and Bbm created suspension and anticipation, tension and release.
The melodic line is built on repetition skips and steps. Steps make it nice and predictable and leaps prevent the song from being too boring.
