Hi, I am Rita. I transcribe sheet music since 2007. All my sheet music are accurate but simple, beginner-level transcriptions with lyrics (singing is good for mental health). Suggest any popular song in any genrу and language.
"That You Are" is transcribed in the original key, B Flat Major, and uses basic major and minor chords
B♭ Aₘ Eₘ E♭. The harmony employs distantly related chords.
The vocals are typed using a treble clef with the numeral 8 below it 𝄠 (a suboctave clef). Play the right hand one octave lower than written if you like how it sounds on your piano. Sing at written pitch unless your voice is low.
"That You Are" is composed with a straight rhythm in common time.
A twelve-note scale and a metered sheet music isn't capable to express the sound of "That You Are" with its layered vocal and inflections of stringed instruments.
The left-hand fulfills an accompanying role. Play any pattern (chords, arpeggios, tremolo, ostinato).
The right hand imitates the vocal delivery by Hozier and Bedouine: a predominant vocal style is legato.
Pitch inflections (slurred notes) should be played quietly. In the chorus Bedouine always sings more quiet than Hozier does.
The melody is build on sudden changes of stepwise direction, with expressive pauses and dissonance.
Notice arpeggiato (𝆃) in the intro.
