A Small-Hand Edition of Chopin's Impromptu No. 1 in A-flat major, Op. 29.
This is not a simplified or beginner arrangement. The goal is to preserve the original musical character, texture, and difficulty while redesigning selected physical hand-size barriers.
The right-hand octaves and the octave chords of the coda remain as Chopin wrote them. The musical character and texture are preserved while selected hand-size barriers — the stretches beyond a comfortable octave — are redesigned.
- Required simultaneous reach: one octave or less
- Requires a comfortable octave in both hands
- 9 quick rolls (5 as printed in the German and English first editions)
- 1 short editorial pedal
- In 3 bars the bass ends a triplet eighth early, with Chopin's pedal
- No notes removed or added
- Every change is marked in the score (signs, brackets and footnotes)
Included: PDF sheet music, MusicXML (.mxl)
Designed for pianists who can handle the musical and technical demands of the original work, but are limited by selected stretches beyond a comfortable octave.
PLAYABLE PIANO
We don't make hard music easy.
We make it more playable for smaller hands.
