This is an intermediate piano arrangement of Post Malone's "Yours," arranged at the request of a follower. To be honest, this was the first time I had heard the song, and I was deeply moved by its unexpected story.
As a singer-songwriter, Post Malone wrote this song imagining his daughter getting married. The kicker is that it's actually a message directed to his daughter's husband—her future son-in-law!
The lyrics that particularly stood out to me were: “We’ll both love her forever, but I loved her long before”, “She might be your better half, but she’s my everything”
While working on the arrangement and savoring the lyrics, I naturally found myself thinking about my own wedding. All those moments came rushing back: introducing my current husband to my dad for the first time, walking down the aisle holding my dad's hand, and listening to the congratulatory remarks from both my husband and my dad.
To be frank, I hadn't truly realized how significant being a "daughter" meant to my dad until now. When I decided to marry my husband and told my dad about it, he said, "It felt like the sky was falling."
Remembering that, I wondered if my dad's heart at that moment was just like the one in this song, which made my heart ache in a tender way while working on this piece.
