Hymn No. 635, The Lord’s Prayer

When this well-known sacred song was added to the hymnal, it appears to have been arranged so the congregation could sing it more easily.

However, the accompaniment seems to have become more difficult.

The original has such beautiful harmony that chord-only accompaniment has limitations,

and it is difficult to add an introduction like a regular hymn because it also contains many meter changes.

Even so, some accompanists use this hymn as a closing song.

I prepared this arrangement after receiving a request.

I kept the hymnal arrangement’s melody line unchanged

while trying to remain faithful to A. H. Malotte’s original accompaniment and harmony.

As a result, unlike the hymnal, the opening measure is written in 12/8 rather than 4/4.

The video was performed in A key.
