"My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less," written by Edward Mote in 1834, is a timeless classic hymn. While working as a carpenter, Mote was struck by the profound truth that nothing but the cross of Jesus Christ can serve as the foundation for our salvation. This hymn clearly confesses that a Christian's hope lies not in personal merit or worldly values, but solely in the righteousness and the blood of the Lord. For over 200 years, it has served as an anchor of faith for countless believers, standing firm against the storms of life. This unchanging truth continues to build our faith solidly in worship today, reminding us that the Lord is our only true hope. It provides rest for the lonely and direction for the wandering, serving as an eternal milestone that challenges us to ensure our confession stands firmly upon the Rock.
I have arranged the lyrical ballad version of the second verse (from 01:33) per your request. The original key is F, and I have also provided versions in Eb and D.
(Congregational Arrangement: https://www.mymusic5.com/chunsabach/384868)
This arrangement is tailored for congregational worship, focusing on the melody and avoiding complex jazz chords. Note that this is not a traditional 4-part (SATB) choral arrangement; it is best suited for solo piano accompaniment during services or meditative prayer times. I hope this provides a rich musical experience for churches without a full praise band.
Although I proofread these scores multiple times, small errors can occasionally occur. If you find any issues, please let me know, and I will correct them immediately.
