This is an arrangement of the world-renowned masterpiece, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." While the original key is Ab major, I have also prepared transposed versions in the lower keys of G and F major to provide a more comfortable and stable vocal range for your congregation.
Lately, many contemporary arrangements tend to remold this hymn into a trendy 16-beat funk groove. While I personally enjoy the refined flavor of funk rhythms when playing solo, I intentionally chose a classic "shuffle rhythm" for this particular piece. Since this is strictly designed to support congregational singing during main traditional services, sticking to the deeply familiar and time-honored bounce feel ensures that everyone can join in seamlessly.
This arrangement will be exceptionally practical for smaller churches where a solo pianist has to lead worship without a drummer. The piano part is carefully structured to define a clear, solid beat and maintain an unshakeable fixed pulse for every single measure. Feel free to adapt it flexibly depending on your sanctuary atmosphere.
As a unique feature, the very last line of the outro is provided in two different versions. You can listen to both options and simply select the harmonic progression that best complements the flow of your local ministry.
