This is an arrangement of the globally cherished classic hymn, "Since Christ My Soul From Sin Set Free" (also widely known as the "Glory Song"). To be completely honest, this piece was quite tricky to rearrange. Due to the inherent movement of the melody, many modified chord progressions clashed heavily with the lead line, forcing me to hold back on some of the beautiful jazz voicings I originally wanted to use. ㅠㅠ
Furthermore, this hymn has a slightly ambiguous rhythmic structure; the traditional notation introduces dotted rhythms inconsistently throughout the phrasing. Even the standard hymnal prints vary depending on the edition. (For a detailed musical breakdown, feel free to visit my blog post: [https://bit.ly/3e0QEBt](https://bit.ly/3e0QEBt))
To maintain a clean and reliable pulse, I chose to apply a consistent dotted rhythm throughout the entire piece. In live church settings, I've noticed that congregations naturally sing even the even-note measures with a comfortable, dotted bounce out of long-standing habit.
Since the primary goal of this score is to fully support congregational singing during main services, it remains strictly melody-driven. I intentionally avoided overly complex or heavy jazz reharmonizations that might distract from the text and the reverent atmosphere of worship. Please note that since this is not a traditional four-part harmony arrangement, it is not suitable for choir accompaniment. However, it is absolutely perfect for solo piano accompaniment during church services, or as reflective background music for silent meditation and prayer before worship begins.
I created this with smaller ministries in mind that may not have a full praise band or choir. Even with just a single piano, you can deliver a rich and full musical expression. I sincerely hope this score brings deeper grace to your sanctuary.
