Description
La Maritza, sung by Sylvie Vartan, opens her album La Maritza. Jean Renard composed the song; Pierre Delanoë wrote its words about the Maritsa River and Vartan’s childhood departure from Bulgaria. Jean-Claude Vannier provided the orchestral arrangement. This version was made by hand, with the tune set out for a measured, singing touch.
La Maritza piano sheet music puts the melody in the foreground here. Let the ends of phrases settle before moving on; the song’s story can guide the playing without lyrics.
