Description
On the Nature of Daylight is the second track on Max Richter's The Blue Notebooks, released by FatCat's 130701 imprint in February 2004. Richter has called the album a protest record about Iraq, with Tilda Swinton reading Kafka over it. It has since been used in Shutter Island and Arrival.
Richter wrote it for strings, and those lines were redistributed across the keyboard by hand. Anyone unsure of the sound can start with the performance video here.
Also by Max Richter: The Departure.
