Description
Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741), one of the most influential Italian composers and violinists of the
Baroque period, is renowned for his innovations in the concerto form and his vivid musical
language. The Concerto for 2 Mandolins in G major, RV 532 is among his most popular
instrumental concertos. Originally written for two mandolins, strings, and basso continuo, it
highlights Vivaldi’s sensitivity to the timbre of the mandolin. The second movement, Andante, is
lyrical and flowing, forming a gentle contrast to the brightness and vigor of the outer movements.
