The score starts in the original key, F Major, and transitions into G Flat Major.
The progression is jazzy and uses extended till the seventh and ninth degrees major and minor chords
The harmony employs distantly related chords.
The vocals are typed using an optional 𝄠 suboctave clef (the treble clef with the numeral 8 below it). Sing one octave lower than written.
"annie." is composed with a swing rhythm in common time. The swing is mainly used in the first verse because it's the only lace where eight notes are used.
Accent strong beats but do it softly.
Learn the left hand first and avoid learning both hands together in the very beginning. Patience is a virtue. Otherwise you will fail immediately and abandon the score.
The left-hand texture is thick and makes great use of the bass register. It was arranged close to the original.
The right hand imitates the vocal delivery by Kim Daniel: a predominant vocal style is legato with perle touch. Kim's singing has a lot of unpitched overtones.
The structure is unusual: it has two different verses.
Notice arpeggiato (𝆃) and double flat 𝄫.
