◆Background of “White Christmas”

“White Christmas,” composed by Irving Berlin (1888–1989) in the early 1940s, was inspired by the composer’s childhood memories of snowy holiday seasons. First sung by Bing Crosby on The Kraft Music Hall radio show in 1941, it was later featured in the 1942 film Holiday Inn, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Its tender, nostalgic mood offered comfort during World War II, and Crosby’s recording—selling over 50 million copies—became one of the best-selling singles of all time.

◆Summary “White Christmas,” with its simple harmonies and tender melody, evokes the beauty of a snowy holiday. The flute-and-guitar arrangement enhances its clarity: the flute’s lyrical line floats above the guitar’s warm harmonic foundation, making it ideal for intimate settings or festive concerts.
