Descripción
The Prelude of BWV 1006a derives from the Preludio of the Violin Partita No.3, BWV 1006,
composed during Bach’s Köthen years (1717–1723). Later, Bach reworked it in Leipzig, most
famously as the Sinfonia of the Cantata BWV 29. The lute-harpsichord (Lautenwerk) or lute version
(BWV 1006a) adds fuller harmony to the original violin texture. On guitar, E major is the ideal key,
benefiting from the resonance of open strings (E–B–E).
