The track is transcribed in the original key, F Major, and uses basic major and minor chords F E♭ D♭maj7 Gm A♭m B♭m and non-harmonic G♭.
Its cyclical chord change (loop) highlights melodic development.
The progression is strange: D♭maj7 is essentially F with D♭ as a bass note. Only one stable chard of the F scale was used and it us only the subdominant. The chords change doesn't move.
“My Own Way” is composed with a swinged rhythm in the quadruple time. I notate it as 12/8.
The left-hand maintains movement with tremolo.
The right hand imitates vocal delivery by Freya Skye: the predominant articulation is tenuto non-legato.
Notice fermata (𝄐). Hold the pause one measure.
Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through repetition of motives two times.
