In Episode 3 of the drama Four Hands: Two Sonatas, Bach’s Cantata BWV 106, Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit (“God’s Time Is the Best”), is played as a piece of reconciliation in Jeong-yo’s hideout, the piano warehouse.
This is a piano solo (1 player) sheet music arrangement of the piece.
In Episode 8, the piece appears again as Pio plays it to comfort and heal himself while overcoming his slump. In the final episode, it returns once more as the two characters’ last(?) piano duet together. 🥹🎹
This arrangement was newly created with reference to Bach’s original score, Fanny Hensel’s piano solo arrangement, and György Kurtág’s piano four-hands arrangement. Please note: This is a different arrangement from the well-known Kurtág version, which is frequently performed. In Kurtág’s arrangement, the Flute II part is played one octave higher, resulting in the characteristic hand-crossing in the piano duet. In this version, the part remains in the same register as in Bach’s original score.
Hope you enjoy playing it! 🤗🎹💕
