About the instructor

My name is Alona Mylanych. I am a pianist, composer and arranger, a teacher from Ukraine.

I grew up in a musical family surrounded by classical and folk music. My mother was a professional musician and guitar teacher who inspired me to play and study music.

I started playing the piano at the age of 6 and since then it has become my passion. After school, I decided to pursue a career in music and I began my study in Ukraine. I have three degrees, masters, bachelor, and specialist from Ukraine in Music Art, Ethics, Esthetics:

Piano Teacher, Concertmaster, and Ensemble Performance.

2021-2022 Growing every day as a professional, I’ve got an offer to perform in Dubai with DS2DIO where I’ve been successfully performing in the Hotels and events, teaching students.

In 2022 emigrated to Canada Toronto. I have already performed as a pianist with France Choir, Ensemble Vocal Les Voix du Coeur, and played on many weddings, events, teaching privately.

I am arranging famous pop songs, composing my own piano pieces, and have been trying to grow my social media presence through performance videos and tutorial classes.

My experience teaching both children and adults has given me valuable insights into helping you become proficient at the piano. Enjoy your daily warm-ups, and you'll see your fingers grow stronger each day

What you learn

1. C Major Scale:

  • Objective: Develop a strong foundation in finger technique and familiarity with the most basic key.
  • Exercise: Practice the C Major scale, ascending and descending, with both hands together. Start slowly, focusing on evenness and accuracy, then gradually increase speed.
  • Variation: Practice the scale in different rhythms (e.g., quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets) and dynamics (e.g., crescendo ascending, decrescendo descending).

2.Canon Exercises:

  • Objective: Develop hand independence and improve the ability to play complex, layered music.
  • Exercise: Play simple canon exercises where one hand starts a melody and the other hand repeats it a measure later. Begin with easy melodies and progress to more complex ones as you gain confidence.
  • Variation: Use known canons like “Frère Jacques” or create your own simple melodies to practice. Try inverting the hands’ roles or adding variations to the melody for more advanced practice.

3 Skipping Exercises:

  • Objective: Enhance finger control and accuracy when playing intervals larger than a step.
  • Exercise: Practice playing intervals of thirds, in the C Major scale. Start with C and skip to E, then back to D and skip to F, and so on.
  • Variation: Apply this exercise to different scales and keys, as well as alternating between hands.

4 Chromatic Scale:

  • Objective: Improve finger dexterity and prepare the hands for smooth transitions between keys.
  • Exercise: Play the chromatic scale (a sequence of half steps) starting from D and moving up and down the keyboard. Use the correct fingerings (1-3 for white keys, 1-2 for black keys) to ensure smoothness.
  • Variation: Play the chromatic scale with staccato articula
