Jesus We Enthrone You (Congregational Worship Arrangement (A, Ab, G, F keys)) - Modern Hymn (Paul Kyle, 1991)

This is an arrangement of the beloved praise and worship song, "Jesus We Enthrone You," originally written by Paul Kyle in 1991. The original key is Ab major, but I have prepared it in A, G, and F major as well to ensure an easier sight-reading experience for church accompanists.

After receiving the request for this song, I spent a lot of time reflecting before diving into the arrangement. Since it is widely recognized as a contemporary praise song rather than a traditional hymn, playing it usually invokes a lyrical, pop-gospel ballad style. This led to a deep structural dilemma: "How can I reform this modern praise track into a solid, reverent arrangement suitable for a main traditional service?"

In a traditional worship setting, where a single piano often leads the congregation in a solemn and focused atmosphere, the approach needs to be distinctly different from a contemporary praise team session.

Ultimately, I chose to omit the overly sentimental pop-ballad elements. Instead of complex jazz reharmonization, I focused on making this modern praise song sound like a classic, majestic hymn. I added powerful octave patterns to both hands to produce a much richer, grander resonance. Additionally, while the original track is written in a 2/2 time signature, I transposed it into a straightforward 4/4 meter to help beginner accompanists read the score instantly. Although 2/2 and 4/4 share similar bar counts, they carry different accent pulses; however, after checking the flow, a steady 4/4 pulse perfectly supports congregational singing without any disruption. I hope this solemn yet rich arrangement brings deeper grace to your sanctuary.
