Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (Congregational Worship Arrangement (F, E, Eb, D keys))-Hymn 277 (The Celebration Hymnal)

This is an arrangement of the gloriously majestic Christmas masterpiece, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" (Tune: MENDELSSOHN). To provide the most versatile registration choices for your church sanctuary, I have compiled this comprehensive 4-key set in F, E, Eb, and D major.

The accompanying demonstration video is performed in F major. For the 1st verse, I followed the reharmonized score precisely, while for the 2nd verse, I transitioned into a soft, dramatic ballad style with free improvisation. Please note that the written sheet music specifically captures the 1st verse structure (the 2nd verse ballad score is not included, though I hope to expand it in the future).

As many know, this magnificent tune is borrowed directly from the second movement of Felix Mendelssohn's festive cantata (*Festgesang*), beautifully reshaped to serve as a traditional hymn. It is an absolute anthem of joy, carrying a triumphant and regal texture that perfectly proclaims the birth of our Savior King.

Since the primary goal of this score is to fully support congregational singing during main Sunday and Christmas Eve services, the right hand strictly tracks and defines the lead melody. To maximize the innate grand resonance and driving power of this piece using only a single piano, I incorporated heavy, solid octave voicings throughout the left-hand bass sections.

To assist beginner accompanists, the chord labels above the staff have been highly simplified to ensure smooth sight-reading under live conditions without sacrificing the sophisticated harmonic architecture underneath. I sincerely pray this arrangement serves as a deeply graceful blessing to your music ministry.
