This is an arrangement of the world-renowned hymn, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." The original key is F major, but I have also prepared it in lower keys (Eb and D major) to provide a more comfortable vocal range for your congregation.

The first verse is played cleanly according to the reharmonized sheet music, while the second verse steps outside the standard structure to express a more free, flowing ballad style.
In jazz harmony, there are colorful chords called "tensions." Typically, tension chords are avoided in congregational hymnals because they can sometimes sound distracting or unusual in a traditional church setting. However, in this particular arrangement, I have cautiously added two subtle tension chords to enhance the harmonic depth without overpowering the piece. ^^;; They are blended very naturally, but if you prefer a more traditional sound during worship, you can simply omit them and play standard chords.
Since the primary goal is to support congregational singing during main services, it is highly melody-driven. Please note that since this is not a traditional four-part harmony arrangement, it is not suitable for choir accompaniment. However, it is absolutely perfect for solo piano accompaniment during church services, or as reflective background music for silent meditation and prayer before worship begins. I created this with smaller churches in mind, hoping a single piano can deliver a profound and abundant worship experience.
