Standing on the Promises (Shuffle Rhythm Arrangement (A, Bb, G Major))-UMH 374 / BH 335

This arrangement transforms "Standing on the Promises" into a vibrant shuffle style, designed for churches with limited instrumental support. The first verse stays true to the original melody, while the second verse focuses on a rhythm-driven accompaniment, allowing a single piano to carry the entire congregation's worship with energy and depth. This shuffle rhythm is particularly effective for encouraging congregational participation, even for older members.

[Hymn Background]

Written and composed by R. Kelso Carter in 1886, this hymn was born out of his personal battle with a serious illness. As a military school professor and theologian, he found his only source of stability during that time was to place his faith firmly on the unchanging promises of God. This hymn, a confession that the Lord's Word is our ultimate refuge amidst life’s storms, remains a beloved masterpiece that brings deep comfort and assurance to Christians worldwide.
