"Are Ye Able, Said the Master," written by Earl Marlatt in 1926, is a solemn and profound spiritual invitation that asks the true meaning of living as a disciple of the Lord. This hymn is not merely a question posed to past disciples, but a holy calling that the Lord extends directly to us today as we chase comfort and success. The Lord does not want us to linger only in places of glory; He calls us to walk the narrow path He walked, the path of the Cross, which is followed by hardship and sacrifice. Answering "Yes, Lord, I will walk that path" to the question "Are ye able to bear the cross" is the greatest resolution a believer can make to deny oneself and live under the Lord's sovereignty. In 2026, we must remember the value of the Cross that we may have forgotten amidst the temptations of the world. Though the path of a disciple is never easy, the journey walked with the Lord is the greatest glory and joy our souls can experience. As you play this hymn, meditate deeply on the love of the Lord who bore the Cross for us.
I have uploaded this in A major as requested. Please note that since I only produced the sheet music, the key differs from the video.
