"More About Jesus Would I Know" was written by Eliza E. Hewitt in 1887. While suffering from a painful spinal injury, Hewitt spent long days in bed, yet instead of despair, she used that solitude to meditate on the inner depths of Jesus Christ. Her lyrics, expressing a desire to know the breadth, power, and depth of His grace, capture a believer's fervent aspiration to unite personally with Christ beyond mere intellectual knowledge. Since John R. Sweney composed the melody in the late 19th century, this hymn has stood as a milestone, reminding believers worldwide of the essence of faith.
