"More About Jesus Would I Know" was written by Eliza E. Hewitt in 1887. While suffering from a painful spinal injury, Hewitt spent long days in bed, yet instead of despair, she used that solitude to meditate on the inner depths of Jesus Christ. Her lyrics, expressing a desire to know the breadth, power, and depth of His grace, capture a believer's fervent aspiration to unite personally with Christ beyond mere intellectual knowledge. Since John R. Sweney composed the melody in the late 19th century, this hymn has stood as a milestone, reminding believers worldwide of the essence of faith. Today in 2026, in our busy lives, we often lose sight of our first love and the deep character of Jesus. May this hymn help you find the joy of walking with Him.
I have arranged this version based on the 2nd verse ballad part (from 0:45 in the video). While the original is in Ab, I have also prepared it in G and F for your convenience. The performance was in G. The ballad version score for the 2nd verse is uploaded here: https://www.mymusic5.com/chunsabach/384542
This arrangement is designed for congregational worship, focusing on the melody and avoiding excessive jazz chords. As it is not a 4-part arrangement, it is best suited for solo piano accompaniment during church services or meditative prayer times.
Although I proofread these scores multiple times, small errors can occasionally occur. If you find any issues, please let me know, and I will correct them immediately.
