"Are Ye Able, Said the Master" is an inspiring gospel hymn written by American theologian Earl Marlatt and composed by Harry S. Mason in 1926. It takes its motif from the challenge in Mark 10, where Jesus asked His disciples, "Are you able to drink the cup that I drink?" This hymn awakens our resolve and dedication to willingly join in the Lord’s suffering, and has resonated deeply with believers worldwide for many years. In the Korean church, it has firmly established itself as one of the most widely sung hymns during dedication services and mission gatherings to pledge discipleship. The faithful confession of saints who leave worldly comforts behind to willingly walk toward the glorious cross continues to offer spiritual courage and profound emotion to us on our journey of faith today. It remains an eternal song of devotion and an unchanging milestone of faith that ignites the hearts of all Christians choosing the path of the cross over comfort.
I received requests for the sheet music of the freely played second verse (from 01:33) of my previous Hymn 461 video, so I arranged it into a lyrical ballad version.
I also uploaded the A key version per your request.
If you need sheet music or audio tracks in a different key, please feel free to leave a comment.
