Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee (ST. AGNES) (Congregational Worship Arrangement (A, G, F keys)) - Hymn 89 (The Celebration Hymnal)

This is an arrangement of the globally beloved and timeless classic hymn, "Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee" (Tune: ST. AGNES). The original key is G major, but I have prepared transposed versions in a higher A major for specific vocal configurations, as well as a lower F major to ensure a more accessible, comfortable vocal range for your congregation. Since the primary goal of this score is to fully support congregational singing during main corporate services, it remains faithful to the familiar, traditional flow of the hymn. I have carefully reharmonized the rather monotonous traditional triads into deep, sophisticated chords to enrich the text.

As the hymn spans across 5 verses, here is a practical performance tip: I recommend playing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd verses strictly as traditionally written to keep the congregation grounded. Then, as the service transitions into the 4th and 5th verses, gradually introduce rolling left-hand arpeggios to beautifully elevate the spiritual climax and dynamic range of the sanctuary.

Due to its meditative and concise structural character, it has surprisingly been quite difficult to find quality instrumental piano cover videos for this piece online.
