This is an arrangement of the deeply devotional classic hymn, "She Only Touched the Hem of His Garment" (Tune: LOVE). The original key is Ab major, but I have prepared transposed versions in the lower keys of G and F major to provide a more comfortable and stable vocal range for your congregation.
The demonstration video is performed in G major. For the first half, I followed the provided sheet music precisely, while for the latter half, I moved beyond the written framework to introduce a free, expressive improvisation (ad-lib) to offer harmonic inspiration.
This profound hymn was both written and composed in 1888 by Pastor Edwin Pond Parker (1836–1920) to seamlessly complement one of his own evangelical sermons. Since the primary goal of this score is to fully support congregational singing during main corporate services, it remains strictly melody-driven. I intentionally restricted the chord alterations to a clean, minimal reharmonization, allowing the congregation to focus entirely on the comforting and sacred message of the text without distraction. It is absolutely perfect for solo piano accompaniment during church services, or as reflective background music before worship begins.
