This is an arrangement of the beautifully reflective hymn, "God's Great Grace It Is Has Brought Us."
When a solo pianist plays directly from the standard four-part vocal harmony found in traditional hymnals, the performance can often feel rigid and overly stiff. For this reason, I do not highly recommend that accompanists simply mimic the vocal chord blocks on the keys. ^^;;
Although written in a standard 3/4 time signature, this piece should actually be performed with a flowing 9/8 time signature feel, utilizing smooth, rolling triplets to unlock its inherent lyrical depth.
As a practical tip for worship, I suggest playing the 1st and 2nd verses strictly as traditionally written to keep the congregation grounded. Then, as the service transitions into the 3rd and 4th verses, gradually introduce my reharmonized chords to beautifully elevate the spiritual atmosphere.
Since the primary goal is to fully support congregational singing during main traditional services, it remains highly melody-driven. I have purposefully avoided overly complex or jarring jazz structures that might distract from the text. Please note that since this is not a traditional four-part harmony score, it is not suitable for choir accompaniment. However, it is absolutely perfect for solo piano accompaniment during church services, or as reflective background music for silent meditation and prayer before worship begins. I created this with smaller ministries in mind, hoping a single piano can deliver a profound and abundant worship experience.
