Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (Congregational Worship Arrangement (D, C, Bb keys)) - Hymn 11 (The Celebration Hymnal)

This is an arrangement of the universally beloved classic hymn, "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" (Tune: NETTLETON). Because it is one of my personal favorites, I spent a great deal of time thoughtfully structuring this piece.

To share a little paradox about myself: I am not necessarily a huge fan of listening to jazz music in general, but I absolutely love weaving modern jazz harmonies and voicings into sacred hymns!

Because of this, I had a strong artistic urge to sprinkle beautiful, complex jazz extensions throughout the entire score. However, over-the-top reharmonization not only burdens the hands of the accompanist but also disrupts the focal flow of corporate worship. I had to strictly discipline myself, repeatedly cutting out my creative impulses for the sake of the sanctuary. It was quite a challenging editing process! ^^;;

Through this thoughtful refinement, I created an arrangement that doesn't stray too far from the universally familiar flow of the traditional hymnal, yet subtly infuses warm, smooth, and contemporary acoustic elements.

While the traditional key signature can sometimes feel high or tricky to sight-read, I have carefully prepared transpositions in the lower, highly accessible keys of D, C, and Bb major to provide a comfortable vocal range for your congregation.
