Lately, many contemporary worship accompaniments lean toward reshaping fast hymns into a trendy, synchronization-heavy 16-beat funk groove. While I personally enjoy the modern drive of funk rhythms when playing solo, I intentionally chose a classic "shuffle rhythm" for this piece. Since this is carefully designed to support unified congregational singing during main traditional services, sticking to the universally familiar bounce feel ensures the entire congregation can follow the beat easily.
I would like to share a crucial performance tip regarding measure 9. The specific voicings in both hands are meticulously structured with meaningful inner-voice movements. If you modify or omit even a single note here, the sophisticated harmonic flow will break, resulting in an awkward dissonance. Because this substitute progression might feel a bit unfamiliar at first, I highly recommend dedicating sufficient practice time to this specific measure.
To keep the sheet music clean and approachable for beginner accompanists, I purposely simplified the written chord symbols by omitting complex technical extensions. As a result, if you play freely based only on the letter symbols, it will conflict with the sophisticated voicings built into the score, turning it into a completely different piece. Please use the chord letters merely as a structural reference, and play the exact notes written on the staff.
