Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed (Congregational Worship Arrangement Ver. 1 (Keys of Ab, G, F)) United Methodist Hymnal #359

This hymn is undoubtedly one of the most representative and beloved hymns for the Lenten season.
For this particular hymn, I decided to try out a few different approaches to the arrangement. Because there are so many beautiful chord progressions that fit perfectly over the same melody line, I ended up creating two distinct versions.
The original key is Ab major.
To make it easier for accompaniment, I have also prepared the sheet music in lower keys: G major and F major.
(If you need the sheet music in any other key, please feel free to request it in the comments!)
Today, I am sharing "Arrangement 1".
Which version do you prefer, Arrangement 1 or 2? ^^
This arrangement is specifically designed for congregational worship.
Therefore, it heavily focuses on the melody, and I intentionally avoided using excessive jazz chords that might distract from the worship atmosphere or the profound lyrics.
Please note that unlike standard hymnals, this is not written in 4-part harmony, so it cannot be used to accompany a choir.
It is best suited for church services accompanied by a single piano, or for playing softly during silent prayer and meditation before the service begins.
This arrangement is an attempt to serve church services that do not have a full worship band or choir.
I hope this demonstrates that a single piano can produce rich musical expression, and I pray that you experience deeper emotion and grace through it.
