“Dance The Night” Sheet Music

"Dance The Night" is played with a straight rhythm in common time 4/4. It is easy to count for beginners but be sure not to play in a mechanical way. Strive for a loose and bouncing feel accenting strong beats. Take care to maintain a steady pulse and play along with the recording if you find that the memory eludes you. Practice "Dance The Night" slowly.

The composition has an interesting structure: after two initial verse/chorus cycles the song develops into a random repetition of a drop that serves as a bridge mixed with choruses and hooks. I colored the chorus blue for your convenience: it is easier to learn a piece of music when you have a mental scheme of it. Play every part differently, as expressively as possible. If some notes are too difficult to play, omit them focusing on emotions instead of sightreading.

"Dance The Night" is a polyphonic song with a walking bass-guitar and soft backing vocal melodies. I didn't transcribe those.

Vocal in the original track switches between legato and well-patterned yet modest staccato.

"Dance The Night" is transcribed in the original key, B Minor, and uses a mix of basic major and minor chords. Notice that the second half has the same progression over all song parts while the first half changes a progression several times.

The melodic line is well-developed with high intervallic saturation. The chord E brings non-harmonic tones creating a lot of tension released in tonic Bm. Overall, the harmony is interesting but isn't it too dramatic for a movie like "Barbie"?

The last bar with the tonic chord is added by me. Modern commercial music doesn't resolve on tonic to push a listener to repeat the track on a streaming service.
