Sleeping Beauty Waltz (for Viola and Piano)

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s elegant “Sleeping Beauty Waltz” from The Sleeping Beauty is presented here in a refined duo arrangement for solo instrument and piano. The structure of the original orchestral work is preserved, allowing the graceful waltz character and flowing melodic lines to unfold naturally in a chamber setting. The solo instrument performs the main melody with lyrical phrasing and expressive tone, while the piano accompaniment carries the remaining musical elements, recreating the harmonic richness and rhythmic elegance of the original score. Some passages have been omitted to ensure practical playability, and certain notes have been adjusted to suit the natural range of each instrument. This arrangement captures the sparkling atmosphere of Tchaikovsky’s ballet music and works beautifully in recitals and concert programs. The required positions extend up to 6th position for violin, 3rd position for viola, and thumb position for cello.
