Heart and Soul (for Cello and Piano)-Hoagy Carmichael

Hoagy Carmichael’s timeless classic “Heart and Soul” is presented here in a cheerful duo arrangement for solo instrument and piano. The structure of the original song is faithfully preserved, allowing its familiar melody and lively rhythmic character to shine in a chamber setting. The solo instrument performs the main melody with clear phrasing and expressive tone, while the piano accompaniment carries the remaining musical elements, primarily focusing on the rhythmic patterns that define the piece. This arrangement highlights the playful charm of the original composition while adapting naturally to instrumental performance. Ideal for recitals, educational programs, and light concert repertoire. The required positions extend up to 3rd position for violin, 1st position for viola, and thumb position for cello, offering expressive flexibility within a comfortable technical range.
