This piece is one of my favorite of all my original compositions. The melody is in the simple key of C Major with a development in flat keys Bb, Eb, and Ab.

Background:

"Last Rose of Summer" depicts a timeless motif: delicate and fading beauty worn down through the passage of time. As I play / listen to this piece I envision one last red rose at the edge of a hill bathed in golden afternoon sunlight. The day, the summer, one's life--all finite in nature, just like the rose's beauty.
