Published in Chicago in 1897 by Leon & Healy, "Klondike" was created by Zellah Edith Sanders (Elwell), a composer most people have never heard of, but who vividly captures the era she lived in through this piece.
At the time of its publication in 1897, the Klondike Gold Rush was at its peak, spreading the news that gold had been discovered in the Yukon territory in northern Canada.
The news quickly resonated and drew around 100,000 prospectors to embark on a challenging journey to the Far North.
