Temple Bell in the Morning Mist-Mayumi Kato

Composer Mayumi Kato’s new compositions for piano explore the “Shorts” format through ten original works. Each piece is approximately one minute long and progresses through ten different time signatures — including a rare exploration of 1/4 time. This is new music, written for a new way of listening. Composed in the time signature of 1/4, this piece implies that every single beat is a downbeat, or a "One." "Temple Bells in the Morning Mist" may well be the first piano composition to use the 1/4 time signature throughout an entire work.
