“Zousan (Little Elephant),” a well-known Japanese children’s song, has been arranged in an 8-beat rock style.
The original 3/4 meter has been changed to 4/4, with blue notes incorporated into the accompaniment to create a unique blend of jazz harmony and rock flavor.
Although this is a short, one-chorus arrangement, it features colorful chord changes that give the simple and familiar melody a fresh new character.
When playing, try to keep a steady quarter-note pulse and enjoy the rhythmic 8-beat groove.
Have fun discovering a different side of this beloved Japanese children’s song through its changing chords, harmonies, and rhythm.
