If you tell me-YeongBeom Kim

Did the intro suddenly become difficult? I've checked the video to be omitted, so don't be too worried.

Today, I have to talk about why this song is so hard so I'll pass on the intro.

This is a very difficult song when most accompanists play. I only have an 8th note, why does it feel like 16 beats when I play?

Why?

The answer's hidden in the beat.

When I sang, I thought it was a familiar 4/4 beat, but when I tried to play it, it was 2/2 beats.

Let me help you. I've briefly mentioned this in "Jesus, our king" before.

2/2 beats...

It means there is minim in a single note.

Two minim is quarter note.

Four quarter in one bar.

Isn't that the same thing?

It looks the same, but it's different

What's more important here is what kind of notes you're going to get as a beat

A minim in one beat is 2/2. A four quarter in one beat is 4/4.

From a four quarter point of view, it's one beat at 4/4 and half beat at 2/2 because The minim is one beat at the 2/2. I'll change the title of this song to 4/4.

If you want to change the minim from one beat to a four quarter, you have to cut all the performances in half.

Whether it's 2/2 or 4/4, A/G -G chord is 1 beat each.

By the way, 2/2 have a one beat of minim, so it feels like it's going to 2 beats each but That's why I made a mistake.

And for 2/2, there are two minim in one bar, so we actually play 2 beats and then move on to the next. Familiar with 4/4, we have to play two bars on 2/2 to feel as if we played one bar on 4/4

Do you understand?

Now that I've switched to 4/4, you can see this song at 16 beats, right?

Rather, it is not difficult to play as you hear it, but it is difficult to play as you see it. It's probably because you're so used to it. I can't believe I am supposed to play one beat with a minim.

What I thought was 2 beats is actually 1 beat in 2/2. You have to play knowing this or You can think of it as a half-shortening. Remember one of the easiest ways to recognize. And I played 16 beats, but you can play 8 beats. There's no correct answer to the performance. I think it's good that there's always a player's choice.

The key point of all the explanations you have to leave in your memory is, after all, the concept of 2/2.

It means there are a minim in one beat and two minim in one bar.
