This is an arrangement of the traditional Korean hymn "I Do Not Know the Way" (Korean Hymnal #375). This piece carries a deep historical significance, reflecting the faith of the Korean people during the turbulent times of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The lyrics were written by the missionary Annie L. A. Baird, expressing a complete reliance on God amidst national hardship.
Please note: This hymn is unique to the Korean church context and is not found in standard Western hymnals.
The original key is Ab major, but I have also included versions in G major and F major to ensure a comfortable singing range for your congregation. The arrangement is melody-driven, emphasizing the compound meter (9/8 feel) essential to the song’s signature lyrical flow. I have avoided excessive jazz reharmonizations to preserve the solemn and reflective atmosphere of the worship service.
