“Džanum” Sheet Music

🎹 It is a score for solo piano with no significant technical difficulties. Original lyrics and harmony chords are included in the sheet music.

🗝️ The track is transcribed in the original key F Sharp Minor, and uses basic major and minor chords F#m C# E A D Bm.

Notice the ellipsis (omitted chords) in the bars 13, 18, 29, 57.

🔠Sync your pedaling to the harmony: hold the sustain pedal for the chord duration.

🙅🏼 Avoid learning both hands together; you will fail immediately and abandon the score. Add fingering where needed.

Please, notice that the upper stave is written using a treble clef with the numeral 8 below it (a so-called suboctave clef). This indicates that the pitches sound an octave lower. Play the right hand one octave lower than written. I do it to avoid using ledger lines that slower sightreading.

"Džanum" is played with a straight rhythm in common time. It is easy to count for beginners but be sure not to play in a mechanical way. Strive for a loose and bouncing feel accenting strong beats. Take care to maintain a steady pulse and play along with the recording if you find that the memory eludes you.

Play as expressively as possible. If some notes are too difficult to play, omit them focusing on emotions instead of sightreading.

The vocal part is with pitch inflections (slurred notes). All inflected notes should be played very quietly. A predominant vocal style is legato

The aesthetic value of a melodic line is achieved through the use of stepwise motion. It sounds nice but predictable. Notice how a non-harmonic C-Sharp chord used to create tension.
