Please, notice that two versions are attached: a simple solo piano and an elaborate duet for piano and vocal.
🗝️ The track is transcribed in the original key B Major.
🔠 Its cyclical chord change (loop) highlights melodic development.
Extended chords show that an alternative harmony was added over to create a unique sound.
🔢 “Tit For Tat” is composed with a swinged rhythm in verses and a straight rhythm in recited choruses. The simple piano solo file is notated in the common time 4/4 but the duet typed with doubled note values and the swing in the verses is written-out in quadruple time 12/8.
🤚🏼 The accompaniment is my arrangement because the original instrumental part has no musical events.
🖐🏼 The right hand imitates vocal delivery by Tate McRae: the predominant articulation is staccato. There is no inflections at all.
🎶 The melody is build in a recitative style.
🌉 The false ending of the bridge releases tension so the repeated chorus doesn't sound dull after an intense bridge.
🏷️ Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through one-note motives.
