The track is transcribed in the original key, G Major.
I didn't include extensions in the chord symbols, but all chords are extended to the 7th or 9th degrees. Extended chords show that an alternative harmony was added over to create a unique sound.
“Sienna” is composed with a straight rhythm in the common time. There is one measure of an irregular size.
The right hand imitates vocal delivery by María: the predominant articulation is tenuto.
In slurred passages, descending inflections are played diminuendo >, but ascending vocal portamento are played crescendo <.
In the verses it is prettier to play the arpeggios (added on an ossia stave) instead of the vocal line.
The left-hand maintains movement with tremolo.
The false ending of the bridge releases tension so the repeated chorus doesn't sound dull after an intense bridge.
The second voice can be omitted by beginners.
Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through dissonance that adds tension and the need of resolution.
