The History-Jannik

This 7-page advanced solo-piano arrangement of Jannik’s “The History” took Mr.Li three years to realize. Inspired by Zhou Shen’s cover, it retains the key and structure of the instrumental original while combining its atmosphere with the piano’s strengths and two vocalise lines from Zhou Shen’s version.

The three-to-four-voice texture combines the accompaniment’s defining double notes with melody, ornamentation, and vocal lines. It avoids extreme virtuoso techniques, but both initial study and detailed shaping are highly demanding. Some passages use 8:3 and 5:2 polyrhythms; align the beginning and end rather than counting every beat.
