"Desiderium" is a Latin word that symbolizes both a nostalgic longing for the past and
a quiet hope for the future yet to come.
I composed this piece while feeling as though I were standing precisely between those two points in time—between what has been and what is yet to be. This piece is written for two-mallet performance, with each hand carrying its own independent melodic narrative.
The two voices intertwine in a contrapuntal texture, supporting and enhancing one another as the music unfolds. A quiet longing for the past, and a gentle hope for the future—both are reflected in every note of this piece.
