《Danse macabre》 of Saint-Saëns is based on a poem by French poet Henri Cazalis and is the strange story of death. In the Middle Ages, when many people died from infectious diseases and wars, the story that was created and oralized to overcome fear was reborn as poetry and music in the 19th century.
The music grotesquely describes the harmony of the living and the dead, and dancing in a deep night frenzy. It's fearful, dreadful but also beautiful. In particular, it is used as the background music for Kim Yu-na's short program performance that gave goosebumps to all Koreans!
