“Set Me Free Pt.2” Sheet Music

Intermediate piano players can re-arrange the left hand by breaking harmony chords in arpeggios or other bass patterns. You can omit playing green notes (the second voice).

I doubled note values to make sightreading easier for beginners.

"Set Me Free Pt.2" is played with a straight rhythm in common time 4/4 so be sure not to play in a mechanical way. Strive for a loose and bouncing feel accenting strong beats. Take care to maintain a steady pulse and play along with the recording if you find that the memory eludes you. Practice "Set Me Free Pt.2" slowly.

To keep listeners attention, the chorus was made to be the biggest part of a song. I marked all parts: it is easier to learn a piece of music when you have a mental scheme of it. The first and second verses/choruses are different, play them differently, as expressively as possible. If some notes prove too difficult to play, simply omit them focusing on emotions instead of sightreading.

"Set Me Free Pt.2" is a song with a polyphonic arrengement — the instrumental part provides not only a harmony to support the vocal but also its own fanfare melody. Piano is an instrument that can play a melody and an accompaniment simultaneously. The melody is not confined to remain exclusively in the uppermost voice.

Vocal in the original track is both marked by subtle bends and slides, with intense ornamentation and rigid and precisely timed. A predominant vocal style is staccato, all slurred notes are vocal bends and to should be barely heard.

"Set Me Free Pt.2" is transcribed in the original key, C Minor, and uses the same progression throughout the song. The progression is built from a handful of basic/extended chords.

Extended chords help create richer sounds than those available from basic major and minor chords. A chord change marks time and musical structure rather than creates a meaningful harmonic pull. Notice the ellipsis (silenced, omitted chords) in several places.
