Program Notes As a musician, I was educated as a classical musician and for the first 10 years of my life, I have only been listening to classical music, but it changed when I was at 5th grade in elementary school when I started watching Japanese anime as a kid. The moment the opening credit song starts, It was practically the first time I ever heard something other than classical music in my whole life and I was immediately hooked by the music in Japanese animes and other Japanese pop cultures. Ever since then, I continue watching anime and listening to anime music, and even started learning how to arrange anime songs to play on piano. While I still consider myself as mainly a classical musician and composer, the influence of anime music never leaves me. Every time I compose a new piece, the influence of anime music is always there, and vice versa, when I arrange anime music as a hobby, the influence of classical music is often present. This piece is an example of that crossover influence, a piece of music influenced by anime music, but written in a very classical form of music, the sonata form, hence, the title 'Animeism'. This piece is the 4th installment of pieces with that title having written the previous 3 for solo piano, a duet of solo piano and solo violin, and percussion ensemble respectively, with the 3rd one awarded 2nd prize in Indonesia Percussion Ensemble Composer Competition 2024.
