Couple of years ago, I had wanted to work on this song because it’s such a beautiful one, but I didn't because these songs are such that someone would have already put out a piano arrangement somewhere on the world wide web. I recently decided that I would go ahead and work on it anyway, because I do intend to compile songs by OST into music books, a feature available on the platform I sell music sheets at, and I obviously cannot be using other people’s work as part of my Secret Garden OST compilation. My rule for myself when arranging a piano cover is simple, even if I know someone has worked on it before, I never ever listen to their piano version before I finish and publish mine, because I do not want to be influenced by what I’d just heard off someone else’s; only the original song is my reference.
I’ve always wondered how and where composers get their inspiration to dream up songs like this (in this case, I found out from the KOMCA website that the singer himself is the composer of this song!). There’s a lot that makes this one unique, other than the already very pretty melody. The song also has a lot of hanging notes and suspended chords resolving into the next. Some of the chord changes are very subtle (like, by mere semitones, discernible on a pair of good earphones, replayed many times). Then there is also the ascending and descending bass lines throughout.
With all songs, I usually take some time to rework them for flow and feel (and playability) before I’m happy with it. So I’ll remember this song as the one that I consciously removed stuff - cause sometimes, simple is best. Hopefully you will be happy with this version too! :)
