Waltz B. 21 in Ab Major-F. Chopin

F. Chopin - Waltz B. 21 in Ab Major

🎼 About the Piece

A graceful melody moves above a gently turning dance accompaniment, creating an intimate atmosphere in which youthful charm and delicate expression remain closely connected.

This early waltz reveals its appeal through melodic poise and small changes of colour, offering a compact setting for the elegance associated with Chopin’s piano writing.

✨ Sheet Music Highlights

The score encourages a clear distinction between a singing melodic line and the lighter support beneath it, developing coordination and a sensitive hierarchy of sound.

Changes of harmony and phrase endings invite careful pedal timing, while ornaments should retain their place within the melody’s direction and the underlying dance pulse.

🎹 Performance & Recommendation Points

This work suits pianists who wish to refine the character of a Romantic dance through expressive detail, balanced accompaniment, and a relaxed but attentive touch.

Establish the accompaniment’s movement before adding flexibility to the melody, then shape each arrival and release so that the music keeps its elegance without becoming static.

Have a happy performance!
